Welcome back everyone! I wanted to take a quick minute to talk about another great event put on by the team at Whispering Vine. Whispering Vine is by far the top wine bar/store in Reno and quite frankly, the best I
have experienced anywhere. Across 3 locations, they have an awesome selection of wines by the glass and bottle(for take away or opening right there sans corkage fee). We love the staff too, they are extremely knowledgeable and friendly!
The Summer Sipper event was a great time at the Foothill location in South Reno. Krish stayed home with his Nani, so we were already pretty stoked to be kid free for a few hours. There were several distributors at the event pouring their best summer wines. These included white, red and pink wines from all around the globe. We had several tastes but my favorite was the 2012 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc. Medium body with amazing fruit. This wine lived up to the wineries reputation. Edwards is one of the top producers in the Russian River Valley and this wine was no exception.
It’s funny that so far I’ve been talking about white wines on this blog, when I’m usually such a red drinker. Given the heat in Reno though, it’s extremely hard to pass up a crisp, cold white wine. Stay tuned though for my featured wine of this month, there’s a good chance it will be a white!
Back to the Summer Sipper – cost of the event was $30 and included 3 hours of tasting along with ample snacks and sandwiches from a great deli called Yosh’s in the same complex. Shivani and I were talking about how that South Creek complex has so many of our favorites in one spot.
Be sure to check out the Whispering Vine website for their next event, stop into Yosh’s for a great lunch and do not miss a chance to try any of Merry Edwards’ wines!
