2013 Quilceda Creek CVR ** BEST VALUE ALERT**
Snohomish, WA
$38(Winery Direct), $60-80(Secondhand Retailer)
Bordeaux Blend: Cab, Merlot, Cab Franc, Petite Syrah, Malbec
This blend from QC is my “best value” ever. Period. That’s it. This wine is an incredible value if you can obtain directly from the winery at the listed price. If not, it’s usually double if you can find at a retailer and the best value moniker would be more difficult to defend.
At $60-80/bottle it is still a great value, don’t get me wrong, but ya know… This wine is big and needs to lay down for years. I would say the best window to still have excellent fruit but have a nice, smooth mouth feel would be 5-10 years. If you can’t wait then crack it open and decant for 2-3 hours. Also, corking it and finishing on day 2 is recommended as the wine gets better and better as it opens up. The QC team knows what they are doing(Robert Parker tells them every year) and this wine lives up to the hype.
